3. there is, there are

 

 * 'there'가 단독으로 쓰일때에는 '거기'라는 뜻인데,

 * 'there is', 'there are'로 쓰이면  '~이 있다'는 뜻이다.

 *  한개가 있을 때 : there is

 * 여러개가 있을 때 : there are

 

  Use 1

 * There is a computer on my desk.

 * There is my mobile phone.

 * There are lions in the zoo.

 * There are beautiful trees in the park.

 * There are many friends at school.

 

 여기서 잠깐, It 와 they에 대하여...

  * there는 있다(not이 있으면 혹은 없다)의 개념.  정말 저기 있을때 사용.

  * it, they는 정확히 가르키는 것이 있어야 함.

  * It is a pencil.

  * It is a very interseting book.

  * They are nurses, not doctors.

  * They are from Amsterdam.

 

  Use 2

  A : There are some people outside the door.

  B : Who are they?

  A : They are students.

 

  A : There is a book on the table.

  B : It is not mine.
