there is와 there are를 부정할 때 뒤에 not을 사용.

즉, ~이 없다 의 뜻

* There is not a laboratory in the school.

* There are not any plants in the classroom.

 

의문문

there is~에서 주어와 동사의 위치를 바꾼다.

* Is there an internet connection in the room?

* Are there any notes in your book?

대답은 Yes, No.

* Yes, there is / No, there isn't / No, there's not

* Yes, there are / No, there aren't

 

a / an, some, any

① a / an 단수이면서 셀 수 있는 명사(가산명사)일 때 사용

* There isn't a book under the table.

* There is an orange in the basket.

② some / any는 셀 수있는 명사나 셀 수없는 명사의 복수형과 함께 사용

some은 평서문에, any는 의문문 부정문에 사용

* There is some water in the bottle.

* There aren't any pens in the pencil case.

* Is there any good films at the cinema?

* Is there any coffee left?

③ a / an 그리고 some은 긍정문에 사용.

* There's a letter for you.

* There are some people waiting.
